VC Peter Relan helped launched Discord; now he’s ‘brewing’ two new incubators

Peter Relan is not exactly a household name, but he has seen a lot over the course of his career and enjoyed a fair amount of success. A Stanford grad who logged time at Hewlett-Packard and Oracle before becoming the CTO of the ill-fated, bubble-era company Webvan, Relan has, in more recent years, become known in founder circles for creating three “low-volume, high-touch incubators” that have punched above their weight. The very first class back in 2007 included founder Jason Citron who, at the time, was developing a social mobile gaming company, OpenFeint, that he subsequently sold in 2011 to the social gaming platform Gree of Japan for $104 million. http://theauctionboard.com/showthread.php?tid=817267 https://demo.evolutionscript.com/forum.php?topic=21325 http://forums.dangerousrays.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=59665 http://www.welcome2solutions.com/forum/topics.aspx?ID=32548 http://www.dnipro-ukr.com.ua/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&p=517004&t=95858 http://xodul.com/forum/viewto

Netflix acquires its first games studio, “Oxenfree” developer Night School

Night School Studio, the independent game developer known for narrative-driven titles like “Oxenfree,” announced today it has been acquired by Netflix. This makes it the first games studio the streaming giant has purchased. In Netflix’s announcement, Mike Verdu, vice president of game development, wrote Night School’s “commitment to artistic excellence and proven track record make them invaluable partners as we build out the creative capabilities and library of Netflix games together.” He added that Netflix plans to add “exclusive games designed for every kind of gamer and any level of play” that will be included with its membership, and have no ads or in-app purchases. http://mbrito.uosdesigndegrees.com/mybb/showthread.php?tid=134321 https://www.jiubei.eu/forum/showthread.php?tid=454185 http://realtimecheats.com/forum/showthread.php?pid=87699&tid=85151 http://wastedwarlocks.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=93993 http://amantespastoraleman.com/foro/showthread.php?tid=9789 https://lif

Amazon-backed buy now, pay later platform Capital Float raises $50 million

Capital Float, an Amazon-backed startup that offers its buy now, pay later service on many popular online platforms in India including that of the e-commerce firm, said on Tuesday it has raised $50 million in a new financing round following a strong growth in recent quarters. Lightrock India led the Bangalore-based startup’s Series D financing round, which brings the seven-year-old firm’s all-time raise to over $200 million (more than half of which is in debt). Existing investors Sequoia Capital India, Ribbit Capital, Creation Investments as well as high-profile entrepreneurs David Vélez of Nubank, Kunal Shah of CRED and Amrish Rau of Pine Labs also participated in the new round. https://therockandduckshow.net/showthread.php?tid=60 http://www.thetravelboards.com/showthread.php?tid=10135 http://beta.cqpolska.pl/showthread.php?pid=189944&tid=44477#pid189944 http://amantespastoraleman.com/foro/showthread.php?tid=7147 http://ttl.co-re.de/forum/showthread.php?tid=91609 https://www.jiub

Longtime VC, and happy Miami transplant, David Blumberg has a new $225 million fund

Blumberg Capital, founded in 1991 by investor David Blumberg, has just closed its fifth early-stage venture fund with $225 million, a vehicle that Blumberg says was oversubscribed — he planned to raise $200 million — and that has already been used to invest in 16 startups around the world (the firm has small offices in San Francisco, New York, Tel Aviv and Miami, where Blumberg moved his family last year). We caught up with him earlier this week to talk shop and he sounded almost ecstatic about the current market, which has evidently been good for returns, with Blumberg Capital’s biggest hits tied to Nutanix (it claims a 68x return), DoubleVerify (a 98x return at IPO in April, the firm says), Katapult (which went public via SPAC in July), Addepar (currently valued above $2 billion) and Braze (it submitted its S-1 in June). We also talked a bit about his new life in Florida, which he was quick to note is “not a clone of Silicon Valley.” Not last, he told us why he thinks we’re in a “go

What we can learn from edtech startups’ expansion efforts in Europe

common to all sectors today: investors only want to see ‘uppy-righty’ charts in a pitch. However, edtech growth in the past 18 months has ramped up to such an extent that companies need to be presenting 3x+ growth in annual recurring revenue to even get noticed by their favored funds. Some companies are able to blast this out of the park — like GoStudent, Ornikar and YouSchool — but others, arguably less suited to the conditions presented by the pandemic, have found it more difficult to present this kind of growth. http://theauctionboard.com/showthread.php?tid=834156 http://www.beta.cqpolska.pl/showthread.php?pid=4659&tid=4461 https://www.jiubei.eu/forum/showthread.php?tid=9407 http://ttl.co-re.de/forum/showthread.php?tid=111302 https://eclipse-gaming.de/forum/showthread.php?tid=2290 http://ngobrolingame.com/showthread.php?tid=57657 http://uhm.vn/forum/showthread.php?tid=336856 http://plainnuts.com/showthread.php?tid=76864 http://www.beta.cqpolska.pl/showthread.php?pid=207322&

After years of inaction against adtech, UK’s ICO calls for browser-level controls to fix ‘cookie fatigue’

In the latest quasi-throwback toward ‘do not track‘, the UK’s data protection chief has come out in favor of a browser- and/or device-level setting to allow Internet users to set “lasting” cookie preferences — suggesting this as a fix for the barrage of consent pop-ups that continues to infest websites in the region. European web users digesting this development in an otherwise monotonously unchanging regulatory saga, should be forgiven — not only for any sense of déjà vu they may experience — but also for wondering if they haven’t been mocked/gaslit quite enough already where cookie consent is concerned. http://sydneychinesetennis.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69284 https://www.middleeastdefence.net/forum/main-forum/34625-comprar-galotam-prescripcion https://www.stocksmessageboards.com/showthread.php?tid=140&pid=241013#pid241013 http://detimgn.iboards.ru/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=15727 http://www.welcome2solutions.com/forum/topics.aspx?ID=32309 http://freedom.teamforum.ru/viewtopic

Portcast gets $3.2M to create more transparent and sustainable supply chains

For many manufacturers and freight forwarders, managing logistics is still a very manual process: tracking shipments with a call or online lookup, and entering that data into an Excel spreadsheet. Portcast, which describes itself as a “next-generation logistics operating system,” makes the process more efficient by gathering data from myriad sources and not only track shipments in real-time, but also predicts what might affect its progress, like major weather events, the tide and pandemic-related issues. The company announced today it has raised $3.2 million in pre-Series A funding, led by Newtown Partners, through the Imperial Venture Fund, with participation from Wavemaker Partners, TMV, Innoport and SGInnovate. Based in Singapore, Portcast serves clients in Asia and Europe, and will use part of its funding to expand into more markets. http://marketing.expert-exchange.de/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16937 http://siamtownus.com/forum/topics.aspx?ID=42185 https://emlalock.boardhost.com/vie

Mercedes-Benz throws down the EV gauntlet at IAA Mobility

Mercedes-Benz introduced a slew of electric vehicles ahead of the IAA Mobility show in Germany, including its first AMG-branded high-performance EV, a sedan and a G-Class SUV concept — all part of the company’s bid to become an electric-only automaker by the end of the decade. Mercedes has already started producing the all-electric EQS, a high-forward and sleek flagship that’s meant to be an electric counterpart to the S-Class. At IAA Mobility, Mercedes aims to showcase its next big EV’s moves. http://ttl.co-re.de/forum/showthread.php?tid=116175 http://forum.darkchet.com/showthread.php?tid=63280 http://moroccansoverseas.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=278887 http://wastedwarlocks.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=20358 http://istari-zone.net/forums/showthread.php?mode=linear&pid=5413&tid=596 http://aandp.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=1220899 https://therockandduckshow.net/showthread.php?tid=1995 http://ocrc.x10host.com/showthread.php?tid=22817 http://realtimecheats.com/forum/showthrea
